In Memory Of James E. Jones, CRPC

April 18, 1970 - March 25, 2024

Jim was born in Alton, Illinois to Hubert and Betty (Edwards) Jones. He graduated from Jerseyville High School (IL) in 1988. He went on to attend Western Illinois University where he graduated in 1992 with a degree in Finance. Upon graduating, he began his 32 year career as a Financial Advisor with Ameriprise Financial during which he met the love of his life, Sherrie (Smith) Jones, on a blind date in St. Louis, MO. Excited to start their new lives together, the two were married in 1995 in Kirkwood, MO at St. Gerard Majella Catholic Church.

In 1998, Jim transitioned into a management position in Palm Harbor, FL. In their 5 years in Florida, they had three beautiful children and forged many memories and friendships. Jim graciously agreed to move with his family to Sherrie’s hometown of Akron, OH in 2003. After almost 25 years with Ameriprise, Jim transitioned later to Symphony Financial (LPL). Jim made many long-lasting friendships, both personal and professional, that brightened his life and will always be treasured.

Jim was someone who knew how to bring a feeling of ease, and joy and laughter to any situation. His charismatic personality made him easy to get along with. If you knew Jim, you knew you could call on him for anything, no matter big or small, and he’d be there. Jim enjoyed spending his weekends surrounded by family and friends watching his favorite sporting teams. From boating during the Ohio summers to hunting trips in Illinois, Jim knew how to live life doing what he loved with those he loved. As a devoted father, he acted as a football coach, supported all of his children’s extracurricular activities, and loved exposing them to new hobbies like beekeeping.

Jim is survived by his wife of 28 years, Sherrie; their three children Leah, Anamarie, and Rick. Also surviving him are his brother, John (Mary) Jones, sister, Nancy Jones, and brother, Bob (Kim) Jones, as well as many loving nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Paul Jones.
